Maurice Lee Wright

GREENWOOD

Maurice Lee Wright, 89, of Greenwood, passed away on October 30, 2017, Greenwood. He was born on March 17, 1928, in Bloomfield, Indiana, to Virgil and Jennie (McAtee) Wright.

He was an Indiana State Trooper, for 20 years, and also worked with the IU Toxicology department. Maurice served in WWII and the Korean War, in the Marines. He then served, in the Reserves. Maurice was a member of the Masonic Lodge #84 F&M, out of Bloomfield, the American Legion Post 89, out of Seymour, and the VFW. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and listening to blue grass and big band music.

Maurice is survived by his children, Michael (Elaine) Wright of Whiteland, Teresa Strunk of New Whiteland, Patrick (Pauline) Wright and Douglas (Laura) Wright, both of Greenwood; five grandchildren, Steven (Kelly) Wright, Dawn Hawkins, Ryan Wright, Cameron Alspaugh, and Jordan Wright; and two great-grandchildren, Evan Wright and Destyni Macy Hawkins.

He was preceded in death by his wife Wilma “Jean” Wright; and a son-in-law, Clovis Strunk.

The family will be hosting a visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 2nd , at the Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel, 729 N. U.S. Hwy. 31, with the funeral immediately following, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
