Teen finds hidden camera

A teenage girl discovered a camera in the bathroom of a Franklin home, and police found enough evidence on a memory card to arrest a man on two felony charges.

Charles Walker, 46, of Franklin, was arrested on charges of child exploitation/pornography and voyeurism after police were called Sunday night, Franklin police said.

A teenage girl was preparing to take a shower when she noticed a light flashing inside a shoebox in the closet area of the bathroom, police said.

She found what she thought was a camera inside the box, police said.

She took the device with her to a neighbor, and those residents also believed it to be a camera, police said.

Police were called and collected the camera as evidence.

When police began investigating, the memory card had been removed, although the neighbors were certain it had contained a memory card when the girl brought it over, police said.

Franklin police investigators got a search warrant for the home and found the memory card.

The card had enough evidence for police to arrest Walker, a news release said.

Police also collected all electronics from the home as part of the investigation.

Police will look into when images had been captured, if other victims were involved and if the images had been uploaded or shared, police Chief Tim O’Sullivan said.

The Johnson County Prosecutor will decide what, if any, charges to file.
