URBANA, Ill. — The University of Illinois athletic department says it’s set the goal of raising $300 million as part of the school’s “With Illinois” university-wide fundraising initiative.

The Division of Intercollegiate Athletics on Monday said that of that money it has earmarked $200 million for capital projects, $70 million for scholarships and $30 million for student-athlete enhancement efforts.

The previously announced $79.2 million football performance center is part of the $200 million in capital projects. The 112,000-square-foot center is scheduled to open in 2019 and have space for offices, sports medicine, locker rooms and other facilities.

The department’s scholarship fund pays for tuition, living expenses and fees for more than 258 student athletes. The $30 million for student-athlete enhancement includes academic advising and tutoring help.

The $2.25 billion “With Illinois ” campaign runs through 2022.
