NEW BEDFORD, Mass. — State police say two separate crashes have left two people dead this weekend in Massachusetts.

The latest crash happened around 2:40 a.m. Saturday on state Route 140 in New Bedford and involved four vehicles.

Police say a vehicle and another car had a side swipe collision, causing the first car to go into the woods and the second vehicle to stop in the left lane.

A third vehicle then crashed into the rear of the second car. The passenger in that vehicle exited the car and was hit by a fourth vehicle.

The victim was identified Sunday as 39-year-old Ruben Vazquez, of New Bedford.

A few hours earlier, police say 25-year-old Dylan Viera, of Acushnet, died after losing control of his vehicle in a separate crash on the roadway.
