PLAINVILLE, Conn. — Police say a drunken driver hit two women in Connecticut, leaving one dead after she was trapped under the vehicle.

Officers responded to a reported accident involving two female pedestrians on Saturday night in Plainville. A 59-year-old woman was found to be trapped under the driver’s front side wheel.

Police and civilians lifted the vehicle off the woman. She was taken to Hartford Hospital where she died on Sunday morning. Authorities haven’t identified her.

The other pedestrian was also hit by the vehicle but wasn’t badly hurt.

Police say the driver, Justine Cusick, of Plainville, was arrested on charges that include vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence. It couldn’t be determined Sunday if she has an attorney.
