Scare up some fun: Halloween events and trick-or-treating hours

If you are looking to celebrate the season with your little ghouls and goblins, local communities have no shortage of events.

Here is a look at what’s coming up:

Friday

Pumpkin Trail, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., Story Walk at Franklin’s Urban Forest. Wear a costume, listen to non-scary stories and trick or treat along the trail.

Trunk-or-Treat, 6:30 to 8 p.m., Scoops and Treasures, 300 Tracy Road, New Whiteland. Free. Prizes given for the best trunks. Call the shop to reserve your parking space and help fill the lot with decorated trunks. Information: 317-530-9900

Saturday

Spooktacular, Noon to 4 p.m., Greenwood library, 310 S. Meridian St. Community Halloween party with crafts, games and storytelling.

Children’s Harvest Party, 2 to 4:30 p.m., First Assembly of God, 1035 Hospital Road, Franklin. Open to ages preschool through fifth grade. This event is an alternative to Halloween and taking your children trick or treating. Free. Food, games, inflatables and candy. No costumes.

Carni-Fall, 4 to 6 p.m., Story Walk at Independence Park, Greenwood. Dress up in costume for games and trick-or-treating on the Story Walk.

Sunday

Trunk-or-Treat, 5 to 7 p.m., Prince of Peace Church, 3050 W. Smokey Row Road, Bargersville. Free.

Halloween day, Tuesday

Trick-or-Treat Story Time, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., Franklin branch of Johnson County Public Library, 401 State St. Spooky story time with a craft and trick or treating in the library. Costumes and candy bags encouraged. Open to preschool aged children and caregivers. Families are welcome.

Halloween Party, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.,  Trafalgar branch of Johnson County Public Library, 424 S. Tower St. Wear your costume for games, crafts and library trick or treating.

Trick-or-treating hours

Bargersville: 6 to 9 p.m. Trick-or-treaters also can do a Trunk or Treat from 6 to 8 p.m. downtown.

Edinburgh: 6 to 8 p.m. Trick-or-treaters also can participate in a Trunk or Treat at the Parks and Recreation building from 5 to 8 p.m.

Franklin: 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Hickory Creek: Franklin, 580 Lemley St.: 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Morning Pointe: Franklin, 75 S. Milford Drive: 5:30 to 7 p.m.

Greenwood: 6 to 8:30 p.m.

Indianapolis: 6 to 8 p.m.

Johnson County, including unincorporated areas and White River Township: 6 to 8 p.m.

Prince’s Lakes: 5 to 8 p.m. Trick-or-treaters also can attend a Trunk or Treat at the town hall during trick-or-treating hours.

New Whiteland: 6 to 8 p.m.

Trafalgar: 6 to 9 p.m.

Whiteland: 6 to 9 p.m.
