NEW YORK — Authorities say two people have been hurt in separate assaults in the subway system.

Police say a 26-year-old woman getting off a train in Brooklyn on Friday morning bumped into another woman, who began to curse at her and attempted to choke her but was stopped by another person. Authorities say the victim was followed to another platform by the woman, who proceeded to punch and kick her before fleeing out of the subway system. She was treated for a broken nose and bruising at the hospital and released.

On Friday afternoon, police say a man riding a train confronted another man who stepped on his foot, and that second man punched and kicked him before getting on another train. The victim was hospitalized in critical but stable condition.
