LAS CRUCES, N.M. — Police in Las Cruces say they are investigating the discovery of a dead body near Branigan Park.

They say the body was found about 10 a.m. Thursday.

A person working in the area discovered the body in an undeveloped lot near Fire Station 3 and Branigan Park.

Investigators are trying to determine the identity, cause of death and how long the body had been at the spot where it was found.

They don’t yet know if the death is from natural causes or foul play.

Police say the body is expected to be taken to the New Mexico medical investigators office in Albuquerque for an autopsy.
