An annual, historical chili supper will be hosted at Union Elementary School next month.
Families can dig into chili, play games at a carnival and participate in a silent auction at the school, located at 3990 W. Division Road, Bargersville.

When is the supper?
Union Elementary has always had a fall chili supper. My husband remembers it from when he attended Union 30 years ago. This year the chili supper, auction and carnival will take place from 3 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov.4
What is on the menu?
An adult ticket includes turkey or beef chili, peanut butter sandwich, corn chips, cookie and drink. Children receive a hot dog, chips, cookie and drink. Refills on chili are free. Coke products are available for purchase.
How much are tickets?
$8 for adults, $4 for children at the door.
What other activities are planned?
A carnival for the kids will be from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Union walking track outside with a bounce house, Nerf archery, ring toss and more. A silent auction of numerous items is from 4 to 6 p.m. inside the gym. Walt Disney World tickets, Indianapolis Indians tickets, and many more local shop donations are available. The evening ends with a live auction with Bruce Findley as our auctioneer. Each class provides a class project where kids make the item and each class has a large basket of items that are themed to auction as well.
Where does the money earned go?
Last year, the money from this event went to the Union Elementary PTO Scholarship that will be given to a senior at Franklin Community High School who had attended Union Elementary. One $500 scholarship will be awarded each year to a graduate that will pursue a higher level of education. Applications for this scholarship are available at the counseling office at the high school and through the Johnson County Community Foundation. In other years, the money raised purchased Chromebooks for classrooms and supplies for teachers and paid for field trips, appreciation of staff and teachers and field trip T-shirts.
