A sailor from Greenwood has been promoted.
Navy Petty Officer Jessie Smith, a 2001 Center Grove High School graduate, is currently serving aboard USS Dwight D. Eisenhower.
Smith is one of only 4,400 who advanced out of 22,000 eligible sailors this year. He is a newly pinned Navy Chief Petty Officer.
U.S. Air Force Airman Jordan M. King graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio, Texas.
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies.
King is the son of Cheri M. King of Greenwood.
He is a 2017 graduate of Greenwood Community High School.
