ELLICOTT CITY, Md. — Police in Maryland have arrested a man in a shooting inside a Walmart store that left another man injured.

Howard County police said in a news release that 20-year-old De’Andre Eason of Ellicott City was arrested Friday. He is charged with attempted murder, assault and handgun violations.

Police were called early Sunday to the store in Ellicott for a report of shot fired. Officers found 23-year-old Matthew Spencer of Baltimore with a gunshot wound to his face.

Detectives say Spencer was leaving the store and passed Eason as Eason was entering. Authorities say the two exchanged words and gestures, and Spencer went back into the store to confront Eason.

Police say Eason pulled out a gun and shot Spencer.

Online court records don’t list a lawyer for Eason.
