ST. LOUIS — Authorities say a St. Louis police detective has been shot in the shoulder while investigating a stolen vehicle.

KSDK-TV reports that Interim police chief Lawrence O’Toole says the shooting happened early Thursday in the southern part of the city. The 54-year-old detective was transported to a hospital and is now listed in stable condition.

No details were immediately released about the suspect or what led to the shooting.
