ABILENE, Texas — Police in West Texas are investigating three apparent overdose deaths on the same day and trying to determine where the victims got the drugs.

Abilene police on Monday didn’t immediately say what drugs allegedly were used by the victims. A police statement says all died within an 11-hour period on Friday.

Police spokesman Rick Tomlin says toxicology results are pending on a 56-year-old woman, her 52-year-old boyfriend and a 22-year-old man. Tomlin says the three died of likely drug overdoses.

Investigators say a fourth person who overdosed Friday told authorities that she used heroin. She was transported to hospital. Her condition wasn’t immediately released.

Police didn’t immediately provide additional information on the victims.
