OSWEGO, N.Y. — The family of a central New York woman allegedly beaten by a homeless man says she has died from her injuries.
Police in Oswego say they were called to a home on the morning of Oct. 1 for a report of an unresponsive 55-year-old woman. Officials say she had suffered life-threatening injuries after being struck multiple times.
Police say she was taken to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse and placed on life support.
Authorities haven’t identified the woman, but her family tells The Post-Standard of Syracuse (http://bit.ly/2y4Ljoh) that Deirdre Rogers-Howell was transferred to a nursing home, where she died Friday afternoon.
Police charged 37-year-old Jason Golas, a homeless man from Oswego, with second-degree assault the day Rogers-Howell was injured. He’s being held in Oswego County Jail without bail.
A message left with attorney wasn’t immediately returned.
