Lancers lose at Wes-Del

Two touchdown passes from sophomore quarterback Tyson Sackman weren’t nearly enough for Edinburgh on Friday as it lost at Wes-Del, 56-12.

Sackman’s scoring strikes were to Hunter Dean and Dakota Balthazor.

The Lancers drop to 0-8 with next week’s senior night game against Trinity Lutheran the final opportunity to get in the win column before sectionals begin.

“I’m 100-percent confident we are getting better,” first-year Edinburgh coach Jason Burton said. “With so many young players, physicality-wise we haven’t caught up.”

Wes-Del jumped out to a 22-0 lead after one quarter. Burton said the Lancers’ offense didn’t take the field until about 20 seconds remained in the first quarter.

“Overall, we hurt ourselves the whole night,” he said. “They had a good gameplan and onside kicked every time they would score.”
