Johnson County man arrested on charge of battery

A Johnson County man was arrested after deputies said he stabbed a relative in the arm Thursday evening.

James Skirvin, 51, Franklin, was arrested on a charge of battery.

A woman went to Johnson Memorial Hospital to get stitches for a cut to her arm at 10:40 p.m. Thursday and told deputies that she had been stabbed by a relative at home earlier that evening, a Johnson County Sheriff’s Office report said.

The woman told deputies that Skirvin, her son who lives in a camper on the property, had entered her home in the 3000 block of County Road 550E demanding something to eat. She told deputies that Skirvin had kicked her dog and threatened to chop the dog into little pieces. When she confronted him, he grabbed a knife and cut her arm, the report said.

Skirvin then prepared some food and left the house. Another relative took the woman to the hospital, the report said.

Skirvin, 3598 S. County Road 550E, was arrested and taken to the Johnson County jail and was held on $3,300 bond.
