WATERLOO, Iowa — Officials say residents at a Waterloo apartment building escaped a fire that damaged all four apartments in the building.

Firefighters say the fire started Friday afternoon under a back patio of one of the apartments, and then spread to the second floor.

One man whose path was blocked by flames at the back door fled through a ground-floor window. No injuries were reported.

The fire department says it’s investigating the cause of the fire.
