HOUSTON — A Harris County sheriff’s sergeant and a county detention officer have been suspended and a second detention officer fired after the three were indicted on assault charges in separate incidents.

Harris County authorities say Sgt. Marco Carrizales was indicted Tuesday on a count of aggravated assault by a public servant. They say Carrizales was working an off-duty security job in 2015 when he chased after a motorist for a traffic violation and struck him with an object, breaking the man’s eye socket.

Detention officer Dylan Goddard was indicted Tuesday on a charge of aggravated assault after he allegedly assaulted an inmate in 2016.

The second detention officer, Michael Holley, was indicted Monday on two misdemeanor counts of assault for separate incidents last year involving two inmates.
