FAIRPORT, N.Y. — Police are on the scene of a shooting that has left two people dead in the yard of a suburban Rochester home.

Authorities say Monroe County sheriff’s deputies and local police responded around 6 a.m. Wednesday to reports of shots fired at a home in the village of Fairport, just southeast of Rochester.

Police say two people were found dead in the backyard of a house on Williamsburg Drive.

Fairport Police Chief Samuel Farina says the victims are a man and woman, both adults. He says the two are believed to have lived at the home, but their identities haven’t been confirmed.

Police haven’t said if the case is a murder-suicide, but Farina says there’s no threat to others in the neighborhood.
