GREENSBORO, N.C. — A man has been arrested in the shooting death of another man in a restaurant parking lot in North Carolina.

Greensboro police spokeswoman Susan Danielsen said in a news release Wednesday that 23-year-old Demauri Jamice Wellington of Greensboro is charged with first-degree murder.

Danielsen said Wellington was arrested following a short chase after the shooting Tuesday.

Thirty-seven-year-old Tony Ray Battle died after he was shot during a fight that spilled out of a restaurant into a parking lot around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Investigators said several people exchanged gunfire during the dispute. They said there is no indication Wellington and Battle knew each other before the shooting.

It was not known if Wellington has an attorney.
