NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. — Authorities say a Florida school bus crashed after the driver became distracted by a student with a flag.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal reports that the bus was transporting 37 students to New Smyrna Beach High School when it crashed Tuesday morning. Officials didn’t report any injuries, but some parents posted later on social media that they took their children for medical attention.

Florida Highway Patrol spokeswoman Kim Montes says the bus driver apparently became distracted when the flag moved as she was trying to make a turn. The bus ran off the road and hit a tree.

It wasn’t clear if the bus driver was cited for the crash.
