AUBURN, N.Y. — Authorities say they’re investigating the death of a woman in her 30s whose body was found in a wooded area of a central New York cemetery.

Police in the city of Auburn say a worker at Fort Hill Cemetery was riding a lawn mower on a connecting road late Monday morning when he noticed a woman’s body lying face-down in the woods.

Officials say there was no apparent foul play in the woman’s death but they’ve deemed it suspicious. An autopsy is being conducted Tuesday to determine the cause of death.

Police say her body wasn’t near any graves. They believe the woman’s body had been there for 12 to 24 hours.

Detectives say they know who the woman is, but her name is being withheld until her family is notified.
