High school bands capture top honors

Three local bands earned top honors at invitationals conducted during the weekend.

The Marching Woodmen and Irish Guard at Greenwood Community High School marched their way to first place in Class B at the Zionsville Invitational.

The band also earned caption awards for best music, general effect, visual and percussion.

Center Grove’s marching band snagged second place in Class A at the Fishers Invitational.

The Marching Braves of Indian Creek High School placed third in Class C at the Fishers Invitational.

Bands from Franklin and Whiteland did not compete during the weekend.
