Christine Hamblen

MORGANTOWN

Christine (Hall) Hamblen, age 96 passed away Thursday morning, September 28, 2017 at Morning Pointe in Franklin. She was a resident of Morgantown.

Christine was born September 15, 1921, in Sturgis, Kentucky, to the late John Riley and Hester (Mason) Hall. She married Noah F. Hamblen on February 9, 1948 in Kentucky. He preceded her in death on February 22, 1974 after 26 loving years of marriage.

Christine retired in 1977 as a Utility Worker from Western Electric in Indianapolis after 25 years of service. She was a member of the Fair Haven Christian Church in Franklin since 1974 and was a member of Western Electric Retirees, Pioneer Club. Christine was also a member of the Morgantown Senior Center and American War Mothers where she held many different roles for over 15 years.

She enjoyed yard work and tending to her garden, watching western movies and reading Christian books. Christine loved to travel and visited places like, Jerusalem, Egypt, Holland, Switzerland and Germany. She also got the chance to travel to Hawaii with Bob Braun. At the age of 65, Christine learned to play euchre and even got her ears pierced. She will be remembered as being full of life and for her love for the Lord and her family.

Christine is survived by her children, Kenneth L. (Connie) Minett of Franklin, Etna L. White of Morgantown, Margaret L. Nelson of Greenwood, Juanita R. (Roger) Graham of Bargersville, Jack D. (Sandy) Hamblen of Nineveh and Judy A. (Roger) Hall of Peoga; siblings, Audrey O’Neal of Englewood, Florida, Rita Sue McKinney of Indianapolis, Frank Hall of Englewood, Florida and Jerry Hall of Indianapolis; 16 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by siblings, Irene Jones, Willadean Hughes, Jim Hall, Gene Hall, Pauline Hall and Riley Hall; and a grandson, Jack Hamblen.

Pastor’s Brandon Minett and Jeff Johnson will conduct a funeral service at noon on Monday at the Fair Haven Christian Church, 1476 W. 300 S. in Franklin. Friends may call from 10:30 a.m. until service time on Monday at the church. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
