Man arrested on theft, fraud charges

When police were called to a Greenwood bank to investigate a customer trying to cash a fraudulent check, officers discovered a stolen truck with a stolen license plate.

Brian Nysewander, 52, of Plainfield, was arrested on charges of check fraud, auto theft, forgery and possession of a fictitious driver’s license

Police were called to the bank Monday evening because a customer in the drive-thru had an invalid check with a fraudulent account number, a Greenwood police report said. The customer also had a fake ID, the police report said.

Officers found the truck had been stolen from Greenfield, and the license plate had been taken from an Indianapolis car dealership, police said.

Nysewander told police another man had given him the truck, made the driver’s license and gave him the check.

Nysewander, 2325 First St., was arrested and taken to the Johnson County jail, where he was held on $4,300 bond.
