Police investigating parking lot break-ins

Greenwood police are investigating a string of vehicle break-ins over the weekend at the Greenwood Lassie League and Freedom Park.

Multiple vehicles were broken into in the parking lots along Averitt Road, Greenwood Police Department reports said.

Vehicle windows were smashed and purses, wallets, cash and medication were stolen from five cars at the Lassie League parking lot during softball games on Saturday evening, the reports said. Vehicles also were broken into at neighboring Freedom Park around the same time, the report said.

Investigators will be checking with neighboring homes and business, as well as the Greenwood Parks and Recreation Department, to look for surveillance video of the thefts, Greenwood Police Department spokesperson Kortney Burrello said.
