Nonprofit seeking volunteers to clean

A local nonprofit is seeking volunteers to help pick up trash in downtown Greenwood and along Pleasant Creek.

Restore Old Town Greenwood will host its annual community clean-up day on Saturday and is seeking volunteers to help, a news release said. This year, the organization will be partnering with the Greenwood Stormwater Department, which will work with volunteers to clean up areas of Pleasant Creek between Meridian and Washington streets.

Gloves and trash bags will be provided for volunteers. The clean-up will be from 10 a.m. to noon, and pizza will be served afterward.

This is the seventh clean-up the organization has hosted since 2010. Two clean-up days had previously been scheduled in the spring, but had to be canceled because of rain.

Anyone interested in taking part in the clean-up day can contact Jill Griffith at 317-800-5646 or at info@restoreoldtowngreenwood.org.
