Mooresville teen earns Baptist honor

A local teenager from Greenwood’s Calvary Baptist Church American Heritage Girls group has won recognition from the national organization.

Rebekah Raymond, 19, of Mooresville, earned the highest award in the organization, the Stars and Stripes Award.

Raymond chose to serve her church, First Baptist Church in Mooresville by installing a butterfly garden and bird nest box. She has served as a Pathfinder Junior Leader and received the Bronze Presidential Service Award and the God and Life Award. She has earned 57 merit badges.

Raymond was recognized for earning the distinction at a ceremony at her church in late August.

Raymond is a home school graduate who enjoys soccer, music, needle arts and bird watching, according to a statement. She is the daughter of Mike and Tami Raymond of Mooresville.

American Heritage Girls Inc. is a national character development organization for girls and adolescents that embraces Christian values and family involvement.
