Mary Ellen Moody

INDIANAPOLIS

Mary Ellen (Ray) Moody, 70, passed away peacefully on Monday evening, September 18, 2017 at Franciscan St. Francis Health in Indianapolis. She was a resident of Indianapolis and a former resident of Trafalgar.

Mary Ellen was born on December 8, 1946 in Indianapolis to her parents, the late Charles O. “Shorty” and Wilma Louise (Mitchell) Ray.

She was a graduate of Trafalgar High School.

Mary Ellen retired in 2008 from the State of Indiana, Department of Medical Licensing after 20 years of service.

Prior to that, she worked for Peach Tree Windows and Doors in Atlanta, Georgia.

Mary Ellen enjoyed playing euchre, crafting and spending time with her family.

She was an avid watcher of old movies with “To Kill a Mocking Bird” being her favorite.

Mary Ellen was preceded in death on August 9, 2016 by her husband of 45 years, Donald R. “Don” Moody, whom she married on July 4, 1971 in Trafalgar.

She is survived by her children, Emily (fiance, Brent Ericson) Walters of Franklin, Amy (Reginald) Smith of Atlanta, Georgia and Thomas J. Kean of Indiana; siblings, Tom (Susie) Ray of Indianapolis, Ruthann (Daryl) Smith of Greensburg and Mark (Margie) Ray of Trafalgar; sister-in-law, Debbie (Craig) Magera of Simpsonville, South Carolina; grandchildren, Abigail Walters of Franklin, Jordan and Adrienne Smith, both of Atlanta, Georgia; and great-grandchildren, Jaylen and Jordan Jr. Smith, both of Atlanta, Georgia; nephews, Brad (Katie) Smith and Grant (Rebecca) Smith, both of Greensburg, Stew Smith of Carmel, and niece, Grace Magera of Simpsonville, South Carolina.

The Rev. Jeff Johnson will conduct a funeral service at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Trafalgar United Methodist Church, 375 Pleasant St., Trafalgar. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the church.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown. Burial will be at First Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Franklin.
