Trojans extend streak

Ellen LeMasters notched her 1,000th career kill and Class 4A No. 8 Center Grove stretched its win streak to 16 with a 25-16, 25-15, 25-15 home sweep of Lawrence North on Tuesday.

LeMasters finished with 13 kills and nine digs for the Trojans (19-1), ranked 14th nationally by prepvolleyball.com. Anna Line chipped in with seven kills.

Cougars cruise past Edgewood

Greenwood Christian rolled to a three-set win against Edgewood on Tuesday, 25-13, 25-14, 25-21. Grace Peters led the way with 11 kills and 14 digs.

Sierra Gilson added nine kills for the Cougars (17-3), while Lexi Odgers finished with five aces and 29 assists.

Whiteland falls to Martinsville

The Whiteland girls were swept by Mid-State Conference foe Martinsville on Tuesday, 25-17, 25-18, 25-13. Toni Joyner had five kills in defeat for the Warriors, while Tabby Holzhausen added 13 assists.

Boys tennis

Warriors blank Braves

Whiteland defeated county rival Indian Creek 5-0 on Tuesday. Quinten Gillespie, Caleb Scott and Corey Ullrich swept the three singles points without dropping a game for the Warriors (13-4).

In the doubles matches, Mason Laugle and Garrison Pelfree were a 6-1, 6-4 winner at No. 1, while Travis Robinson and Lane Stephenson earned a 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. 2.

Indian Creek fell to 5-8.

Trojans defeat Panthers

Center Grove snapped a two-match losing streak by topping Bloomington South, 4-1, on Tuesday.

Trey Thixton, Nic Ballesteros and J.T. Embrey gave the Trojans (8-7) a clean sweep of the singles matches, and the team of Mason Runkle and Grant Herron also picked up a point at No. 2 doubles.

Lancers dominate Trinity

Edinburgh won all five matches in straight sets, rolling past Trinity Lutheran on Tuesday.

Coltan Henderson, Ryan Gaston and Bladen Hancock were triumphant in the singles slots for the Lancers. Parker Bryant and Bryce Burton won at No. 1 doubles, and the No. 2 team of Gabe Wilson and Brayden McManaway was also victorious.

Rebels advance in county tourney

Roncalli moved into the semifinals of the Marion County tournament with a 3-2 triumph against Lawrence Central. Jacob Perez and Tyler Schofield earned a three-set win at No. 2 doubles to clinch the match.

Bryson Meek and Austin Schofield won in straight sets at first and third singles for the Rebels (7-10).

Rebels shut out Heritage

Jeanna Sering and Sophia Dietz scored to lift Roncalli to a 2-0 win against Heritage Christian on Tuesday. Abby Genier kept a clean sheet in goal for the Rebels.

Cross-country

Trojan sets new girls mark

A school record that had stood for more than a decade at Center Grove Middle School Central fell Saturday when Rebecca Stockman turned in a time of 11 minutes, 33 seconds on the 3-kilometer course in a Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference event.

The previous record of 11:40 had been set back in 2006 by Tori Schoettmer, who went on to run at the University of Louisville.

Women’s soccer snaps drought

Maddie Fleet had a goal and an assist as Franklin ended a two-game skid with a 2-1 win against DePauw on Tuesday.

Jordan Nakaguchi added her first collegiate score for the Grizzlies (2-3).
