Police: Woman caught shoplifting had heroin, pills

A woman who was caught shoplifting from a Greenwood store faces additional charges after police found heroin, syringes and pain pills in her purse, a police report said.

Sarah Spencer, 28, of Franklin, was arrested on five felony charges and a misdemeanor: possession of a drug injection device, two counts of possession of narcotics, possession of paraphernalia, unlawful use or possession of a legend drug and theft.

Greenwood police were called to the Kohl’s story at 550 Fry Road on Friday evening due to a shoplifting complaint, the report said. Spencer told the police officer about the drugs in her purse.

Spencer, 1503 Roberts Road, was taken to the Johnson County jail and was held on $5,000 bond.
