Volleyball

Braves take down Edgewood

Indian Creek improved to 12-4 on Thursday after battling back to defeat host Edgewood, 2025, 25-10, 25-23, 25-11.

Taylor Burkett’s 15 kills proved huge in the win, as did Tori Travers’ 13 digs and Malea Brownfield’s seven service aces.

Warriors lose in five at Beech Grove

Whiteland made it a five-set match against Beech Grove but fell short 25-17, 25-20, 16-25, 23-25, 15-4. Rhyan Walden served 14 points for the Warriors, including five aces.

Toni Joyner and Jordan Wise both had 12 kills for Whiteland, while setter Tabby Holzhausen finished with 31 assists.

Rebels win against Franklin Central

Grace Lawrie had 14 digs and two service aces as Roncalli defeated Franklin Central, 25-10, 25-18, 21-25, 25-18.

Lancers lose to Brown County

Edinburgh came up short against Brown County. The latter rallied for a 16-25, 25-21, 25-16, 25-10 victory.

Girls soccer

Rebels come up short to Olympians

Columbus East got past Roncalli 3-2. Rebels goals were supplied by Sophia Dietz and Rita Brockman. Kelly Grube picked up an assist in the loss.

Boys soccer

Cougars improve to 8-1-1

Freshman midfielder Jonathan Amador scored two goals and Gerrit Huizinga one as Greenwood Christian Academy won at Providence Cristo Rey. Griffin Huizinga added an assist for the cougars, while sophomore goalkeeper Gabe Vessely had five saves.

Trojans too much for Lawrence North

Center Grove used a pair of goals from Ben DeRose and one from Aaron McDaniel in a 3-1 victory against Lawrence North. Assists for the Trojans were by DeRose, Alec Prime and John Nystrom.

Boys tennis

Woodmen shut out Mooresville

Greenwood defeated Mooresville 5-0 to improve its Mid-State Conference record to a spotless 5-0. The Woodmen are 11-2 overall.

All matches were in straight sets, including by singles winners Jacob Gray, Ethan Gray and Grant Bryant. The doubles combinations of Jacob Rothaar/Ben Sobieray and Charlie Brooks/Nick Belovic also prevailed.

Lutheran edges Lancers

Lutheran defeated Edinburgh 3-2. Scoring points for the Lancers were No. 3 singles player Ryan Gaston and the No. 2 doubles grouping of Parker Bryant and Bryce Burton.

Warriors too much for Falcons

Whiteland scored a 4-1 victory against Perry Meridian. Singles wins came from Caleb Scott and Cory Ullrich, while the Warriors swept doubles behind the play of Mason Laugle/Garrison Pelfree and Lane Stephenson/Travis Robinson.

Shelbyville wins at Indian Creek

The visiting Golden Bears traveled to Johnson County and won at Indian Creek 5-0.

Girls golf

Lancers win three-way meet

Senior Vanessa McManaway shot a 43 to lead Edinburgh to a score of 187 at Deer Valley Golf Course. The score was good enough to down Brown County (202) and Southwestern (249).

Also for the Lancers, McKenzie Hill had a 47 and Morgan Calhoun a 48. Close behind was Kierra Richards’ 49.

Warriors defeat Woodmen

Whiteland downed Greenwood, 206-224, at Valle Vista. Whiteland’s Bri Harwell was medalist with a 44, while Maecee Terhune led the Woodmen with a score of 48.
