Police: Argument ends in stabbing attempt

Two Greenwood men received medical treatment after police said one attacked the other with a knife Wednesday evening.

A 29-year-old attempted to stab a 34-year-old man just before 9 p.m. at a house in the 600 block of Park Drive, a Greenwood Police Department report said.

The victim told police that he had begun to play a card game with the other man, when the man became angry about the game. The victim left and went to his own room, when he heard the other man breaking items, the report said.

When the victim went to check on the noise, the man held a knife to his neck, he told police. After a brief struggle, the victim managed to pry the knife away from the man and call 911, the report said.

The victim was treated at the scene for a laceration to his neck, the report said. The man who attacked him was taken to Community South Hospital for treatment, a report said.
