A Franklin man was arrested after police said he struck another vehicle and drove away, and the other driver followed him.
Jeffrey D. Smith, 19, was arrested on a charge of leaving the scene of an accident and possession of paraphernalia.
Another driver called police just after 5 p.m. Tuesday to report that a vehicle had struck her vehicle and stopped near State Road 144 and Centerline Road, west of Franklin, but then drove off when she said she was calling police, according to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office report.
Smith told police he thought the damage was minor and left because the truck isn’t insured and his license is suspended, the report said. Police also found glass smoking pipes in Smith’s vehicle, the report said.
Smith, 1199 Hospital Road, Lot 194, was arrested and taken to the Johnson County jail, where he was released on $2,000 bond.
