William C. “Billy” Chambers

GREENWOOD

William C. “Billy” Chambers 59, of Greenwood, passed away on Monday, September 11, 2017.

He was born on April 26, 1958 in Logan, West Virginia to Chadwick “Bill” and Delcie (Frazier) Chambers.

He married Nancy (Lane) Chambers on June 12, 1982 at the Community Church of Greenwood; she survives.

He was a 1976 graduate of George Washington High School in Indianapolis where he played on the varsity league baseball team.

Billy grew up playing little league baseball and was an avid baseball fan. He played softball until he reached the age of 40. He served on the Carnine Little League board of directors for three years.

He also enjoyed playing darts and was a great pool player.

He loved spending time with his family and friends, traveling and doing home projects. He was a jack of all trades.

It was in his pride and joy be a Secret Santa every year for needy children.

He was a member of Warren Baptist Church in Indianapolis.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Nancy (Lane) Chambers of Greenwood; two daughters, Hillary Chambers and Holly Chambers, both of Greenwood; sister, Deborah Miller (Ralph) of Indianapolis, brother, Timmy Chambers of Indianapolis; in-laws, Morton and Jane Lane of Mary Esther, Florida, brother-in-law, Paul Hendrix of Kokomo; nieces and nephews, Delcie (John), Savannah French, Amber Kayse (Paul), Aaron, Ceira and Tiffany Kayse, Chad Miller, Carrie Hendrix, Gretchen Zientek (Jeremy), Eliza and Elaina Zientek, Wes Hendrix (Kim); and many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Chadwick “Bill” and Delcie (Frazier) Chambers; a great-nephew, E.J. Hamilton; mother-in-law, Eunice Lane, and sister-in-law, Jan Hendrix.

The Rev. Ron Yarbrough will conduct a service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 S. U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin. Friends may call Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the mortuary. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
