Local bands do well at competition

Four local marching bands snagged top four finishes at weekend competitions.

The Center Grove High School marching band earned first place in Class A at the Decatur Central High School invitational. They also grabbed caption awards for best visual and general effect.

The Greenwood Marching Woodmen and Irish Guard went to Lafayette Jefferson High School, where they earned first place in Class B. They also marched their way to caption awards for best music, visual, general effect, drum major and percussion. The school’s band parents also earned an award for their help with the program.

The Marching Warriors of Whiteland Community High School placed fourth in Class A at Decatur.

Franklin Community High School’s Blue Regiment marched south to Columbus North High School, where they earned third in class AAA at the Mid-States Band Association contest.

Indian Creek High School’s marching band did not compete.
