Volleyball

Trojans dig in for win at Noblesville tourney

Class 4A No. 7 Center Grove swept three of its four matches in winning the Noblesville Invitational on Saturday. The Trojans (16-1) needed just two sets to defeat Wes-Del, Terre Haute North and Brownsburg, then rallied for a 23-25, 27-25, 15-13 victory over the host Millers.

Madison Hammill had 29 kills for the Trojans, while Devynn Merriman totaled 53 digs.

Greenwood Christian wins 10th straight

Backed by eight aces from Izzy Reed, Greenwood Christian rolled to a 25-6, 25-9, 25-11 sweep of Central Christian on Saturday. It was the 10th consecutive win for the Cougars (12-1) and the ninth straight without dropping a set.

Sierra Gilson and Sarah Mangan each added seven kills for GCA.

Warriors travel to Shelbyville

Whiteland dropped three matches at the Shelbyville Invitational on Saturday, falling to Guerin Catholic, Shelbyville and Beech Grove.

Toni Joyner led the Warriors (2-14) with 11 kills and 14 assists.

Edinburgh competes at Greenwood

Edinburgh lost its three matches at the Greenwood Invitational on Saturday, taking defeats against Indianapolis Scecina, New Palestine and Monrovia. The Lancers fall to 5-11 overall.

Rebels top Chatard

Garret Simmerman, Robert Thang and Vince Agramonte each scored a goal as Roncalli defeated Bishop Chatard on Saturday, 3-1.

Girls soccer

Rebels, Dragons battle to draw

Roncalli finished in a 1-1 tie with visiting New Palestine on Saturday. Sophia Dietz had the lone goal for the Rebels.

Girls golf

Lancers capture Mid-Hoosier title

Buoyed by a 92 from Vanessa McManaway, Edinburgh was a runaway winner in the Mid-Hoosier Conference tournament on Saturday at North Branch Golf Course.

The Lancers finished with a score of 404, beating South Decatur by 45 strokes. Morgan Calhoun and Kierra Richards joined McManaway on the all-tournament team.

Center Grove fifth at Smock

Center Grove finished fifth against a top-heavy field in the Franklin Central Invitational at Smock on Saturday. No. 2 Zionsville finished first, followed by No. 2 Westfield, No. 3 Columbus North and No. 9 Brownsburg.

Lucy Young shot an 81 to lead the Trojans, while Meg Fosnot added an 88. Center Grove finished with a total of 358, two shots ahead of sixth-place Roncalli.

Boys tennis

Rebels swept at Terre Haute South

Roncalli lost all three of its Saturday matches at the Terre Haute South Invitational, falling to Evansville Memorial, Terre Haute South and Heritage Christian.

Austin Schofield had one victory for the Rebels (4-10), as did the No. 1 doubles team of Bryson Meek and Garrett Meek.

Franklin College

Volleyball splits at Hanover invite

Franklin College came out of the final day of the Hanover Invitational with a win and a loss Saturday, beating St. Mary-of-the-Woods in four sets and falling to Centre in five.

Avery Sparks had 13 kills in the victory for the Grizzlies (4-3).
