Donald Ray “DR” White, age 86, passed away peacefully on Sept. 7, 2017 at his home in Brown County.

By his side was his devoted wife of 62 years, Myrtie G. (Malcom) White, whom he married on Oct. 10, 1954 in Brown County. Also by his side were his loving children, Roxanna Marie (Bill) Richhart of Brown County, Connie Anita (Keith) Tyner of Fishers, Elizabeth Ellen (John) West of South Carolina, Gary (Kathy) Stump of Fishers, Timothy Lee (Jomyla) White and Aaron Eugene (Angel) White, both of Brown County.

DR is survived by his siblings, Orville L. White of Morgantown, Ruthann LaFary, Dianne White and Cathy White, all of Olney, Illinois; 19 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.

DR was born on April 15, 1931 in Indianapolis to the late Lawrence and Mary (Emberton) White.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Stump; siblings, Betty Howell, Rosemary LaFary, Robert, Eugene and John White.

DR retired in 1985 from the Chrysler electrical plant in Indianapolis after 30 years of service.

After retirement, DR worked as a reserve deputy on the Brown County Sheriff’s Department for over 12 years and was a member of the Brown County TRIAD.

He was a former Hamblen Township trustee, served on the Hamblen Township Advisory Board for 24 years and served as a Brown County councilman for eight years.

DR was a 50-year member of the Spearsville Wesleyan Church in Brown County and a member of the United Auto Workers union.

He was a licensed private pilot and enjoyed mushroom hunting and playing the guitar.

The Revs. Craig Bell and Gary Stump will conduct a funeral service on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Spearsville Wesleyan Church, 9174 Bean Blossom Road in Brown County. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry St.., Morgantown. Burial will be at Spearsville Wesleyan Church Cemetery with military rites presented by the Brown County Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorial donations sent in honor of DR to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana, 2626 E. 17th St., Columbus, IN 47201.
