BALTIMORE — Homicide detectives in Baltimore are investigating the fatal shooting of a 22-year-old man.

Baltimore police said in a statement that officers responded to a shooting around 12:30 p.m. Monday. They found the man suffering from gunshot wounds.

The statement says he was taken to a hospital, where he died a short time later.

Police say a preliminary investigation reveals the victim was speaking with two unknown suspects when they opened fire on him and fled in a white vehicle.

The victim was not immediately identified.
