Man accused of home improvement fraud

A Bargersville man has been charged with home improvement fraud after police said he took a deposit to do home improvement work but never did any work and didn’t refund the money.

Ryan Sapp, 39, was arrested this week.

On June 5, a Johnson County man hired Sapp to do home improvement work. Sapp requested a $700 deposit on the $1,300 project and said he would begin work the following day, according to court documents. Sapp continually delayed doing the work, providing multiple excuses as to why he couldn’t do it. The homeowner contacted the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office on June 23. A detective called Sapp and told him he needed to honor the contract, according to court records.

After work had not been started, the detective sent Sapp a certified letter on July 11, requesting a meeting. Sapp never showed up.

Sapp, 24. N. Wagon Road, was taken to the Johnson County jail and released on $250 bond.
