Man arrested, accused of damaging home

A Center Grove area man was tasered after deputies said he destroyed furniture and stopped relatives from calling 911.

Jimmy Smith, 23, was arrested on charges of criminal mischief and resisting law enforcement.

Johnson County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to a home on Beech Court around 8 p.m. Wednesday, where relatives said Smith had broken items. When one person tried to call 911, Smith ordered her to put the phone away. She called an acquaintance, who called police, the report said.

When deputies arrived, they found blood inside the garage, a table in the kitchen had been destroyed, a fist-sized hole punched through a wall and other furniture had been damaged, the report said.

Smith, whose hand was bleeding, told deputies that he had been using steroids. Smith ran away from deputies, who chased and tasered him and arrested him, the report said.

Smith, 15 Beech Ct., was taken to the Johnson County jail and held on $4,000 bond.
