Lancers defeat Southwestern

Edinburgh beat Southwestern (Shelby) on Thursday after falling in the first two sets. The next three sets the Lancers (5-7) stepped up and won 25-20, 25-15 and 15-10.

Indian Creek beats Monrovia

Taylor Burkett had eight kills, Tori Travers had 13 digs and Malea Brownfield had nine aces to help Indian Creek sweep Monrovia 25-14, 25-15 and 25-19 on Thursday.

The Braves are now 9-3 on the season.

GCA takes down Shortridge

Greenwood Christian beat Shortridge in three sets 25-17, 25-6 and 25-10. Leading the Cougars (9-1) were Sierra Gilson with nine kills, Izzy Reed and Lexi Odgers with 33 assists. Sarah Mangan made her debut coming off an injury and had seven kills.

Warriors fall in Bloomington

Whiteland was swept by Bloomington North on Thursday, 25-13, 25-11, 25-10. The Warriors drop to 1-9 on the year.

Girls golf

Lancers tie for first

Monrovia and Edinburgh tied at 202 while Greenwood Christian had 219 in a three-way match Thursday. Vanessa McManaway of Edinburgh shot 45, making her the match medalist.

Boys tennis

Grizzly Cubs defeat Plainfield

Franklin beat Plainfield 3-2 on Thursday after Jonah Rockey, Logan Snyder and Josiah Rockey all beat their competitors in singles play. Snyder dropped the second set but came back to clinch the win for the Grizzly Cubs (7-1, 3-0 Mid-State).

Lancers edge Southwestern

Edinburgh brought home a 3-2 win against Southwestern (Shelby) on Thursday after Colton Henderson won at No. 1 singles and Ryan Gaston pulled out a win at No. 3 after losing the middle set.

The No. 2 doubles team of Parker Bryant and Bryce Burton scored the other point for the Lancers, winning tiebreakers in the first and second sets.

Braves swept by Hauser

Indian Creek were handed a 5-0 defeat by Hauser on Thursday. The loss drops the Braves to 5-2.

Boys soccer

Grizzly Cubs defeat Hawks

Franklin routed Decatur Central 9-2 on Thursday, improving to 5-1 overall on the season and 2-0 in the Mid-State Conference.

Trojans fall to North Central

Center Grove lost to conference rival North Central 2-0 on Thursday, falling to 6-3 overall and 1-2 in the MIC.

Roncalli falls to Guerin Catholic

Despite goalkeeper Abby Genier making 13 saves, Roncalli fell short to Guerin Catholic 3-1. Sophia Dietz scored the lone goal for the Rebels (4-3).
