SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. — Police in Vermont have charged a security staffer who they say assaulted a Pennsylvania man at a concert venue.

The Burlington Free Press ( ) reports a 41-year-old security staffer at Higher Ground in South Burlington has been charged with simple assault following an altercation that happened on Aug. 18.

According to police, 25-year-old Michael Cullen, of Pennsylvania, was injured when he was escorted out of the concert venue. Police found Cullen unconscious when they responded to the venue. Cullen sustained serious injuries and was treated at the University of Vermont Medical Center.

The security guard has been issued a citation. A hearing is scheduled for Sept. 14.
