LAUREL, Del. — Authorities say a crash involving a tractor-trailer in Delaware killed a 60-year-old Pennsylvania woman and injured her two grandchildren.

Delaware State Police identified the woman killed in Tuesday’s crash near Laurel as Carman L. Williams of Philadelphia.

Police say Williams was stopped at a stop sign heading westbound when a tractor trailer driving northbound approached the road. Police say that for unknown reasons, Williams didn’t remain stopped and entered the intersection in the path of the truck.

Police say the truck swerved to try to avoid the crash, but struck Williams’ car. Williams was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police say Williams’ grandchildren, a 25-year-old man and 17-year-old girl, were treated for non-life threatening injuries and released.

The driver of the truck wasn’t injured.
