Betty Jean Sutton

INDIANAPOLIS

Betty Jean (Dean) Sutton, 88, of Indianapolis, died on August 28, 2017.

She was born September 14, 1928 in Youngville, Tennessee to the late Tommie Holland and Effie May (Pitt) Dean. Betty was a graduate of Arsenal Technical High School with the class of 1947.

Betty was a 45-year member of Southport Baptist Church after serving her Lord for many years at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Indianapolis.

Betty worked for Indiana Farm Bureau Cooperative Inc. for 24 years prior to her retirement in 1990.

Betty is survived by her husband of 65 years, Melville Sutton; son, Craig (Patti); daughter-in-law Susan; four grandchildren, Chelsea, Sarah Curry (Grant), Benjamin (Courtenay) and Daniel; three great-granddaughters, Addison Marie, Hadley Grace and Emerson Claire Curry.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Woodrow and Robert (R.O.); and the eldest of her two sons, Bradley Dean Sutton.

Over the years Betty’s many interests include homemaking, sewing, and gardening, but most important to her was her children and their families.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center with funeral services at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 31, 2017 at the mortuary.
