Changes made in baseball, softball

Staff reports

Indian Creek was the school feeling the biggest impact when the IHSAA released its new sectional alignments for baseball and softball Tuesday.

The Braves still will be in the same Class 3A sectional draw as Beech Grove in both sports, but all of the other opponents will be new. Baseball opponents for the next two seasons also will include four Indianapolis schools (Broad Ripple, Chatard, Herron and Manual), while the softball draw will now include Connersville, New Palestine and Rushville.

Previously, both Indian Creek teams had been paired with Beech Grove, Danville, Greencastle, Indianapolis Northwest and Indianapolis Washington.

In Class A, Edinburgh and Greenwood Christian will stay together in both baseball and softball.

The Lancers and Cougars will be joined by Indianapolis Lutheran, Morristown, Southwestern (Shelby) and Waldron in both sports.

Indianapolis Lutheran is a new addition in both sectionals. The Saints replace Indianapolis Arlington in the baseball draw and represent an added team in softball.

Life will remain unchanged for the local Class 4A teams. Center Grove, Franklin, Greenwood and Whiteland still will be in the same baseball and softball sectionals along with Franklin Central and Martinsville.
