Izzy Reed Q&A

What has been the hardest part of playing volleyball at the varsity level?

It’s probably been the difference in speed. It’s not like I didn’t expect it, but everyone that we play is talented.

How nervous were you at the start of the season opener against Greenwood?

I was pretty nervous because it was my first high school game. Once I got out on the court, it was all good.

What aspect of your game are you working hardest on now?

My defense, back row-wise. Any good team should pick me out, like, “Oh, she’s a freshman,” but I like that. If I get a good pass, I’m happy it came to me.

How has the team’s fast start this season helped your confidence?

It’s definitely exciting. Coming out 2-0 is awesome, but we still haven’t done anything. (Coach Kayla Back) says that it doesn’t matter what we’ve done in the past. We still don’t have that state (championship) trophy in our hands.

What does the team need to do to maintain its momentum?

We need to keep up our energy, not get cocky and just play volleyball the way we know how to play it. I think we’ll be just fine.
