Morning crash closes Morgantown Road

A Friday morning crash in the Center Grove area resulted in a downed power line and closing part of Morgantown Road.

David Adams, 70, of Thomson, Georgia, was driving south and slowed down to turn into a driveway at a house in the 1000 block of Morgantown Road when his car was struck from behind by another vehicle driven by Jason Fiete, 35, of Greenwood. Adams’ car was pushed into a power pole, which broke, a Johnson County Sheriff’s Office report said.

Deputies blocked off Morgantown Road, between Olive Branch and Smith Valley roads, on Friday morning while repairs were made.

Tyler Long, 26, of Greenwood, who was a passenger in Adams’ car, was taken to the hospital for treatment after complaining of minor bleeding on his head, the report said.
