Billy R. Carter

MOORESVILLE

Billy R. Carter, 67, of Mooresville, passed away unexpectedly at Franciscan St. Francis Health in Mooresville on Wednesday, August 16, 2017.

Born February 2, 1950 in Harlan, Kentucky, Billy was the son of the late Roy G. Carter, Jr. and Oma (Woodard) Carter; both of his parents preceded him in death.

On November 6, 1998 he was united in marriage to his wife, Debra Karen (Weddle) Carter.

Billy worked as a carpenter at Davis Homes for several years.

He also worked as a machinist at Federal Mogul Corporation and at TOA for many years, before retiring in 2014.

He enjoyed fishing and watching the Chicago Cubs.

A loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Billy’s memory will be forever cherished in the hearts of loving family and countless friends.

Along with his parents, Billy is also preceded in death by his two brothers, Charles R. and Gary R. Carter.

Survivors include his wife, Karen Carter of Mooresville; two sons, Michael R. (Leah) Carter of Mooresville and Mark A. (Michele) Carter of Cloverdale; his stepson, Matthew T. (Michelle) Kee of Mooresville, his stepdaughter, Shelley Dawn (Tim) Carter of Greencastle; three brothers, Teddy (Linda) Carter, Greg L. (Sue) Carter and Randy A. (Debra) Carter, all of Martinsville; his sister, Wilma J. (JR) Vanzant of Mooresville; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; and his beloved Pomeranians, Taz and Rascal.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of Billy R. Carter from 4 until 8 p.m. on Monday, August 21, 2017 in the chapel at Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Mooresville. The Rev. Keenan Steinway will conduct the funeral service on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Nebo Memorial Park in Martinsville privately and at a later date.
