Franklin Hops & Vines festival: New festival brings out the fun times

Downtown Franklin will be the center of a new festival celebrating Indiana-brewed beer and local wine this month.

The first Hops & Vines Festival will feature local drinks, and also food, live music and classic movies between 5 and 10 p.m. Aug. 26 in Franklin.

The Artcraft Theatre will celebrate iconic movies of the ‘80s that weekend. Retro movies include at 2 p.m., “Adventures in Babysitting”; 5 p.m., “Stand by Me”; 7:30 p.m., “The Karate Kid”; and 10 p.m. “Fast Times at Ridgemont High.” The theater is at 57 N. Main St.

Weekend passes for the movies including those on Aug. 25 are $25 for ages 13 and over, $20 for ages 55 and over, college students and military, and $15 for kids 12 and under. For information and tickets, visit historicartcrafttheatre.org.

At, 5 p.m. food and beverage vendors will begin serving, and a classic cruise-in on North Main Street will begin. Live music by Hairbangers Ball will be 7 to 10 p.m.
